At this event Camilla Potter will point out the different herbs that grow in her gardens, and encourage everyone to pinch and sniff their scents. She will talk about how they are used and how to grow them.
In Camilla's own words:
"I've been interested in plants for as long as I can remember, to me they are magical. I had an Uncle who was a great gardener and he encouraged me to learn from him, tagging along in his glorious gardens. My parents were equally encouraging, event though sometimes they came home to shrubs moved across the yard, or a new garden spot dug up. I worked at the Animas Garden Center, here in Durango, for 10 years. In 1991, I earned my Master Gardeners Certificate. We have lived in New Mexico, Texas, Ohio, Arizona and came back to Colorado in 2011. So I learned from those climates and the various aspects of their plant culture. Herbs have been my specialty, and I've been growing them since 1975. In Ohio, I was a member and president of the Licking County Herb Society. In 2016 I started Mountain Thyme Herb Society in order to have other "Herbarists" in Durango to learn from. I served on the Board of Directors for Durango Botanical Society for 7 years."
